Week 5 Done! One more to Go!

This week was essentially tech/hell week.  With only a couple days left before our opening next Wednesday, the days have been filled with getting work done to get the show ready.  With being tech/hell week, I finished my lighting focus as well as finished writing light cues today (Saturday).  It’s been a tiring and stressful one, but one that is expected with tech week.  As this week went by, I had flashbacks of theater comps and the stressful times that entailed.  I often see these blog posts as theater comps 2.0 as I outlined my process and mindset with each post.  Nonetheless, I believe we’re almost there with the production and I’m excited to see our efforts come to fruition.

Aside from the show, I’ve been battling a cold for the last few days and I hope it won’t keep me down for this last week.  On the one hand, I’m excited to be done with the program and to see my friends and family, and on the other, I’m getting a bit sentimental.  It’s been one heck of a ride these last few weeks and I think I’ve changed quite a bit in adapting and learning about this place.  I’ve been challenged and forced to learn and explore new things in such a short time period all of which has given me new perspective in both the field of teaching but also in the work environment.  I know I’m going to write a longer post next week once I leave, but for now, all I can say is: this place has surprised me.
